"Silicon Valley is run by people who want to be in the tech business, but they are in the people business. They are way, way in over their heads" - Zeynep Tufekci
IT as an industry is getting dangerously reckless. In this talk, Aaron will present case studies demonstrating ways we accidentally harm our users through algorithmic cruelty, tonal dissonance, encoded bias and hostile architecture. He will then offer some techniques and models for introducing more humanity into our practices.
Aaron is a consultant at Redvespa. He cares about people building great software, responsibly. He therefore focuses on the human aspects of software development, both in terms of the humans who use and are affected by our products, and the humans who create them.
